Bathtime Entertainment

I absolutely love taking baths. It’s one of those stress relieving and relaxing activities that I could partake in every day if I had enough time to. Tonight I decided I wanted to take a bath. For some reason, it was a bath mood kind of evening.
Sadie Mae was in the house after coming in from playing outside so I brought her in the bathroom with me. Who knows what she would do if she was let free to roam the house by herself. I’m sure a mess would have been waiting for me. Sads hates bathtime. She will fight you when it comes to her having a bath so I figured she would sleep on the bathroom mat.
What she did next had me laughing and frantically trying to find my phone to video record her. Unfortunately, I was too late on reaching my phone.
I had just gotten into the bath tub and I was settling down when Sadie Mae came over to the side of the tub. As unexpected as it was, Sadie Mae jumped into the bathtub and started running from one end to the next. What sent me in a frantic trying to grab my phone was when Sadie Mae started splashing around at one end of the tub. Water went EVERYWHERE!
After Sads was finished with her splashing fun, she jumped out of the tub. I thought she was finished with it all together but I guess she just needed a break because the next thing I know, she’s back in the tub splashing again.
I couldn’t believe my eyes! She never acts like that when it’s her bathtime. She’s usually trying to run as far away from the tub as possible. I died laughing! She is such a fun loving puppy. It’s adorable and entertaining to watch her and some of the stuff she does. Tonight was one of those times.
I suppose a mess was in order whether she was in the bathroom or left to roam around the house by herself. There was water all over the bathroom floor by the time I called it quits with bathtime. You can only take so much splashing at one time.
Seriously, I have the most adorable puppy in the world! Who else can say their puppy was splashing in the bath tub with them?

The ONLY thing that works on Sadie Mae

This girl couldn’t be happier that it’s FRIDAY!

Compared to my last two Fridays, this one is fairly low key but I’m not complaining. After a long week of work, I’m content sitting here writing this blog while Sadie Mae is passed out beside me.

Now Sadie Mae has been passed out since around nine tonight. Everyone that knows me well knows that this is a very rare occasion for me. Sadie Mae is a beagle mixed with Jack Russell. She has more energy than a pack of wolves. It tires me out just watching her run around nonstop wondering when she’s going to tire herself out. It always happens but I’m usually up late waiting for that rare moment.

Fortunately for me, I’ve figured out a trick that gets Sadie Mae to pass out afterwards every single time.

BATHTIME!

She hates it! I haven’t figured out why it causes her to pass out afterwards, but hey, there’s no complaining coming from this momma. If it weren’t such a hassle, I’d give her a bath every day of the week.

Let me run you through our bath chaos

Sadie Mae is by no means a dumb pup. She knows when it’s time for a bath and she hides. Once I’ve caught my wild pup and the bathroom door is shut, I turn the water on. Sadie Mae loves the water running as long as she can be on the other side of the tub. Once she’s in the tub, all hell breaks loose. I try to prepare myself for a bath because by the time we’re finished, momma and puppy have both taken a bath along with the entire bathroom. I’ve always wanted a water puppy and I got the exact opposite. Lucky me! Sads will bark, try to jump out of the tub, she’ll sit as far away from the faucet as possible, and she’ll use all of her strength to keep me from getting her near the faucet.

By the time bathtime is over, if there was a smile on my face before bathtime, it’s nowhere in sight afterwards. It’s such a stressful situation. I realize having a clean pup is worth the hassle but then you have to deal with cleaning up the now destroyed bathroom and your wet self. What started off as what seemed like one simple task has now become a list of tasks.

Tonight I smartened up though and gave Sadie Mae a bath outside. She was sitting at the back door so I let her in. Only instead of being greeted by a perfectly clean puppy, Sads greeted me with muddy stains down my blue jeans and paw tracks on the floor. Now the bathing process went as usual, except for the lack of a tub, and I still ended up soaken wet. Yet, after all was finished, Sadie Mae passed out on my bed and I didn’t have to clean a destroyed bathroom.

Sadie Mae and I may hate every second of bathtime but I wouldn’t trade those seconds, minutes or hours of cuddle time with my sweet pup for anything. Bathtime only lasts a few minutes. During those few minutes, I may want to strangle her for acting like a mad animal, but cuddle time erases all of that negative energy.
